Free Example of Art is for Empathy Essay

The article Art is for Empathy represents a new approach to understanding the art. Usually the understanding was a destination on the way to accepting the ideas of the artist or maker. Emily Vey Duke and Cooper Battersby suggested stepping out of that paradigm and accepting art as the way for empathy.

The suggested idea can exist. However, we should not forget that art is experience. No matter how great desire of the artist is to show what he feels or felt, there will be no use if one looks at his work without empathy. The authors of the article, probably on purpose, decided to call an artist  a maker. It is important to mention that it actually creates, or better to say, makes the environment for digging the emotions out of the people’s minds, who nowadays are obsessed.

On the other hand, I understand that art is a very personal thing. No matter what we used to hear, artist or maker, according to Emily Vey Duke and Cooper Battersby, is showing his personal emotions and feelings. On this ground, it is good to create the environment for those who have a need to show their emotions and have no opportunity to do so. Art therapy is becoming more and more popular. New approaches in education and even in psychology show us that we are what our mind is. Actually, art helps to find the way to the person. If you can understand the person, maybe you will understand the society. There is no need to name everything new that appears. According to Flaubert, everything repeats changing its shape.

I strongly believe that art will became a powerful tool for those who want to make a change and are ready to work a lot on achieving impossible. However, before doing this it is important to understand your being, your personality and limits. After this, it will be easier to look for ideas, and the perspective will be absolutely different.
