Custom Family and Internal Medicine Essay

Compassionate, friendly and passionate are the words that describe me in the best way. I am a self learner, constantly evolving as a personality. Hard times have shaped me up to become a much stronger person in life.  I love to inspire people and be inspired myself and that is what makes me love people. Growing up in India and migrating in the early years of my life to the U.S. gave me a unique opportunity to become broad minded and sticking on with my core values at the same time. I enjoy various forms of entertainment and working as a part of a team in order to reach outstanding achievements. I believe self development, as well as self education are the key factors to becoming a greater professional in whatever area you are involved in.

My family has been a great support and inspiration to me throughout all the life.  As a kid I would listen very keenly to my father’s long dining table lectures on Human Anatomy, Physiology and watch his interesting dissections, conducted on goats’ intestines.  Doubtlessly this all helped me in developing a strong passion for the natural sciences. While I was in early teens, my mom got diagnosed with RA, a little later with SLE, Sjograns and recently with Bronchiectasis. I have seen all the pains and sufferings that come along with disabling diseases like hers. Despite this, even at 59 years she continues to fight.  Her struggle has been the biggest motivation in my life to take up and pursue this unique compassionate and highly rewarding profession.  The level of care my mom received here, the law and order and regular human honesty and mannerism have immensely turned me not only into a better person. The abovementioned also makes me feel in debt to serve this country. I found real patient care and ethics, hope, opportunities and a system that has scope and desire for further improvement.

Family Practice fits very well to my nature and personality.  Family medicine allows me to get into deeper interpersonal relationship with patients. I like the idea of being not just a doctor, but an advocate, counselor and a supporter for the patient and his family as well. Family medicine offers me a satisfying balance between personal and professional life as it is family and community oriented at the same time. Family physicians provide a cost effective and coordinated care and effectively use resources in order for their patients to be treated in the best way possible and supervised at the highest level.  I am extremely fascinated with this specialty due to the genuine need, opportunities and challenges it offers for the future doctors. The constant need for good family physicians in the smallest and largest of communities and the responsibility and challenges that come with it ensure effective primary care to all Americans. This definitely gives me a strong feeling of the struggle and it is really worth pursuing.

I believe I am totally qualified to become a family medicine doctor. Firstly, I have a lot of skills and abilities that allow me to become a family medicine expert. Secondly, my desire to help others is supported by my attitude and responsibility. I always keep the promises I make, and I can be very helpful for the patients. Besides that, I can utilize my skills by offering individual approach to every single patient I will be treating in the future. And last, but not least, is my ultimate wish to help all the people, despite of their age, sex or ethnicity.
