Free Example of Goods and Services Essay

Globalization has contributed greatly to the intermingling of people from different parts of the world. People, goods and services have been transferred from one part of the globe to another as people seek to enhance their lives through trade and other forms of interactions. As a result, there is an increasing need for enhancement of the infrastructure around the globe to facilitate this interaction. Among different forms of infrastructure that needs polishing is transport. In this line of thought, faster forms of transport have been on a higher demand. Among them is air transport. Despite the fact that air transport is among the fastest means of transport, there are various risks that are involved. Air transport is prone to fatal accidents. There are various aircraft accidents that have occurred in the recent past. Among them is Continental Connection Flight 3407 that occurred on February 12, 2009 near Clarence Center, New York.

There are various research findings that have been unveiled in regard to this aircraft accident. To begin with, the crash of Continental Connection Flight 3407 plane did not just kill the crew and the passengers but also one person on the ground. There have been speculations in regard to the actual cause of the accident. Initial reports indicated that the plane accident had been caused by the icing on the aircraft (Motley Rice LLC, 2009). However, recent reports points at the pilot and the rest of the crew as the cause of this accident since during the time of the crash, the aircraft was flying on autopilot in icing conditions (24-7 Press Release, 2009). Therefore, whereas the icing conditions can arguably be cited as the cause of Continental Connection Flight 3407 accidents, negligence on the part of the flight crew also contributed greatly to this accident. This is particularly so since the icing condition requires that an aircraft is flown manually rather than on autopilot.

The Baum, Hedlund, Aristei & Goldman filed a lawsuit on behalf of the children of one of the victims who was a spiritual leader, Susan Wehle who died in the Continental Connection Flight 3407 plane crash. Baum, Hedlund, Aristei & Goldman argued their case as a wrongful death citing negligence and failure to take proper measures that could have prevented the accident (Baum, Hedlund, Aristei & Goldman, PC., 2010). Baum, Hedlund, Aristei & Goldman (2010) argued that the whole plane crash scenario was among other things caused by negligence and lack of proper training of the crew who were unable to handle critical situations while in the air.

According to Beebe (2010), the judge overseeing the Continental Connection Flight 3407 plane crash case argued that there was need for this case to undergo mediation to avoid trial. The decision was welcomed by both the complainant and the defendant as it was seen to be a beneficial decision both to the defendants and the complainants. However, this does not ignore the fact that the complainants have petitioned their grievances to the Congress to review flight rules that would ensure that there is a high level of accountability both among the flight crew and the airlines. After the agreements are settled, the families of the victims would be compensated for their loss of loved ones.

Conclusion

There have been different plane crashes in the past that have continued to raise concerns about safety of air travels. Among them is Continental Connection Flight 3407 that occurred in February 2009. In this regard, there have been different lawsuits that have been filed against this airline for negligence that resulted from flight crews and technical problems that were as a result of lack of appropriate technology to deal with emergency. However, there have been proposals that have been agreed upon by both sides, i.e. the defendants and the complainants to settle the issue out of court through a concession.
