Gay Marriage Essay Example

Like most people who recognize that same-sex marriages are not natural and not healthy I consider homosexual unions to be those that should not be legalized as marriages, equivalent to heterosexual ones. The state should not destroy a traditional concept of marriage as “a voluntary union between a man and a woman, excluding other people”.

Argumentative Essay about Gay Marriage

Marriage between a man and a woman has always been a unique type of relations, which naturally leads to the creation of a newborn person and provides this person with the best conditions for education and development through stability and mutual obligations. Gender distinctions are the main component of any marriage. Two homosexuals or two lesbians cannot create a newborn person. Even if one of the lesbians proceeds to an artificial insemination, it demands the man's participation, who is to be a donor of the sperm.

Thus, the child, born by the lesbian in the result of an artificial insemination, all the same has a biological father irrespective of the fact whether he knows about it or not. In this case the child is deprived of the rights to know the father in order to satisfy the requirements of the lesbians. I think, such actions are unfair in relation to the child and are simply shocking. It passes to the system injustice when the state supports such situation by its laws and judicial authority.

The only reason for the homosexual marriages is the sensual communication and erotic romanticism. Such approach to marriage is a complete antithesis to the inherent basis of a traditional marriage. It is an absolutely different culture and worldview, which is to force out a traditional understanding of sex and human relations. For instance, the British law legalized the homosexual civil unions in 2004 and does not have such concepts as “adultery” and “marital fidelity”.

It is known that the homosexual way of life leads to diseases, depression, suicides, life expectancy reduction and so on (Sullivan 174). It is considered that same-sex pairs are extremely chaotic in their relations with the sexual partners. One of the largest researches in the field of the homosexual unions revealed that only seven out of 156 same-sex pairs had no sexual activity with other partners. The majority of such pairs had not been together more than five years.

Same Sex Marriage: an American Dilemma

This is not a secret for anyone today that the homosexual way of life has the main fearful enemy, which accompanies everyone who sticks to this lifestyle. This enemy is called AIDS. There are also various venereal diseases which pursue ruthlessly who participate in this lifestyle. In September 2010, the American Center for Disease Control and Prevention, which is a part of the state structure and submits to the Ministry of health of the USA, gave out an official statistics, concerning the health of the homosexuals in the USA.

Despite the fact that only 4 % of the men's population of the USA had homosexual contacts, there are more than 50 % of the patients with AIDS among the whole population of the USA. It means that homosexuals have 44 % more chances to catch AIDS. In this case, it is very important to take into consideration that many other homosexuals do not even know that they are sick with this illness. Such figures are tragic. Homosexual unions are very fragile. In 2010, the US National Longitudinal Lesbian Family Study revealed that 40 % of lesbian pairs, who made an artificial insemination, broke off the relations within a short period of time.

It is also necessary to tell about religious people for whom the sodomy and the unisex sexual relations are a sin and are forbidden by the norms of the professed religion. Moreover, they are not only people who are in favor of the preservation of cultural and moral values of the society, the people and the nation who have been a priority for many centuries. The permission of the unisex marriages will simply offend these people. They will not accept it because it contradicts their cultural and moral norms and they will fight against it with the ways they can. Marriage is “a sacred cultural tradition, canonized and settled”. The violation of this tradition is the defilement of the sacred cultural canon and as all of us understand, not everyone will endure it.

If there are people on the streets today who say that they want to have a possibility to make a unisex marriage and if they are allowed, who will come to the streets tomorrow? Those who want polygamous marriages in which there will be three men and four women, and all are bisexual. Then zoophiles will join asking to allow the marriages with animals to make an official sexual contact with them. And then necrophiles, pedophiles, gerontofila, koprofila will come. No, thanks, it is not for us.

The state should place priorities before the society as it considers correct actions of the citizens. For example, the family of married man and the woman who has given birth to 3-4 children should receive every possible subsidies, grants and help from the state. Thus, the state will show that such family model is a priority for the majority. It is desirable and such a social behavior is welcomed. If the permission to get married to the homosexual couples is not given, the state opposes a similar social behavior and does not support it.

Homosexual Marriage Essay Conclusion

Thus, I consider that all citizens of non-traditional sexual orientation should have the same rights as the main population of the country, namely, the right to live, to have property, freedom of speech, education, nationality, work, peaceful assemblies and associations, rest and leisure and so on. All the rights which protect them are equivalent to those of other people. Also all people have the right to marry a person of an opposite sex and to create a family. All these rights belong to the mankind and are included into the international and local laws. They form a basis of laws of all countries. However, I think, I gave enough reasons not to allow legalization of homosexual marriages.
