The history of civilization remains largely intriguing. The case of the Indian civilization affirms this view. The diversity of the Indian society is traceable to ancient events. Migrations and invasions of both ideas and customs of people have contributed towards the cultural and the religious diversity of India. In particular, India is religiously rich. Focusing on religious aspects is central since it largely influences life of its inhabitants. The main attributes of the religious orientation of the Hindu civilization are inner life, the female principle, and non-violence.

The movie opens and closes with the scenes, where several Hindus gather for religious rites. The religious practices are a reflection of the lengthy adherence of the society to the Hindu religion. The pilgrims who bathe in Ganges before the Great Festival of Shiva show how religion has shaped the Indians’ lives. There is a place Hindus visit to seek redemption. These images may reflect that the Indian civilization has remained static for a long time. Similarly, it reinforces the perception that diversity is minimal among the Indians (Legacy the Origins of Civilization).

Based on the video, India is clearly represented as an immensely diverse country. Such aspects as speech, costumes, physical appearance, living standards, food, geographical features, etc reflect the levels of diversity. On the one hand, the dressing of rich Indians was partly different as it was modeled alongside the European tradition. This aspect also exemplified the Muslim influence. However, on the other end, poor Indians dress in rags. The absence of a national language was also another concern. The impact of appearance of a dozen of languages on the country’s reality further reflects the diversity that characterized the Indian civilization. Even people from the same province tend to be devoted to different attributes.

Taj Mahal is among the eight wonders of the world. Its architectural design is breathtaking and remains unchallenged in that respect. The Muslim rulers built the Taj Mahal. The beauty of Taj Mahal is incomparable during sunrise and sunset. Taj Mahal opens another dimension in regards to the culture of Indians. Buddhism is one of the most significant sects found in India. The sect registered momentous gains in 270-232 BCE when King Asoka converted to Buddhism (Benton and DiYanni 65). Although the king did not make Buddhism state religion, it had a profound influence. For instance, the king organized and coordinated the spread of the religion across the country. He managed to disseminate the religious orientation to Sri Lanka.

According to the above discussion, the Indian civilization portrays a high level of diversity. However, religion plays a key role among Indians. Hinduism was, and remains a dominant religion while Buddhism gained a foothold in the state later on. Taj Mahal also proves that the Muslim religion played a role in shaping the Hindu civilization. Unlike other civilizations such as the Mesopotamian, Egyptian and the Iraq civilizations, the Indian culture appears the most inspiring in the sense that it was and still remains completely dissimilar from traditions of other ancient countries.
