Custom A Just and Lasting Peace Essay

Our society always waits for the leaders, who can honestly say about the problems and who can propose some solutions; the leaders, who would not hide behind somebody’s back, but would the innovator and would not be afraid of making maybe unpopular, but really important steps; the leaders, who would not search for his own glory, but the prosperity of his native country. A man, who has not got a fear of changes and breaking some rules for better will be definitely remembered in history books, that is copy-book maxim. Everyone whom we know from history book was somehow outstanding person with charisma, inner strength, fortitude and with a huge desire of changes.

It is more difficult to distinguish that kind of man, whom I described above, it is much easier to find them in the past taking into consideration what he did and what circumstances it caused, but in your present time you just observe and maybe think that all of these is not important for the future, but it is wrong point of view, every step of every man causes some consequences, but some of them owns a big power in the hands, the presidents of the countries are some of them. I believe there is no need to explain how mush power has the president of the United States of America, and how his every single word is important not only for America, but for the whole world, because the peace of our planet depends on these great people, who chooses the ways of our growing, who makes our future and the future of our children, sometimes even if we do not agree with some their steps we have to except it, because the one who has more power is the person whom you should follow, that is the reality. In my analysis I will ponder over the words of one of such great and powerful men, who are making a history – the President of the USA Barack Obama. In 2009 the 44th President of the USA Barack Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize and he stood in a one line with such men as Woodrow Wilson, Lech Walesa, Dalai Lama, Gorbachev, Mandela, Kofi Annan and others, who also won this Prize. As it usually happens the winner makes a speech, and of course the whole world with the open ears catch every word. My task is to analyze Obama’s Nobel Prize Speech and to single out the most important points.

Obama’s Nobel Prize Speech

Obama’s speech represents the reflection of war and peace question in nowadays world. His lecture was very sincere and truthful, there was not only about peace and how is everything good, no, the President was honest, he described the true situation about wars and the ways to get freedom and peace. Everyone knows that the USA is very active in taking part in wars under the idea of getting freedom to some particular countries and people. Barack Obama declared that there is no peace without a war, sometimes it is just needed, because no everyone can accept peaceful settlement “Evil does exist in the world. A non-violent movement could not have halted Hitler's armies. Negotiations cannot convince al Qaeda's leaders to lay down their arms. To say that force may sometimes be necessary is not a call to cynicism – it is recognition of history; the imperfections of man and the limits of reason.” He pointed out that good situation in many problematic countries and territories have the price of great number American soldiers lives “The United States of America has helped underwrite global security for more than six decades with the blood of our citizens and the strength of our arms. The service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform has promoted peace and prosperity from Germany to Korea, and enabled democracy to take hold in places like the Balkans.” Barack Obama gets at the root of the war and peace issue and believes that the real peace is not just an absence of military conflicts “So even as we respect the unique culture and traditions of different countries, America will always be a voice for those aspirations that are universal.” Mr Obama pointed out that all countries must “play” the same rules, he said about his cooperation with that time President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev in the question of reducing nuclear stockpiles, but some countries are out of this agreement “In the middle of the last century, nations agreed to be bound by a treaty whose bargain is clear: All will have access to peaceful nuclear power; those without nuclear weapons will forsake them. I'm working with President Medvedev to reduce America and Russia's nuclear stockpiles. But it is also incumbent upon all of us to insist that nations like Iran and North Korea do not game the system. Those who claim to respect international law cannot avert their eyes when those laws are flouted.” These are the main ideas of Barack Obama’s Nobel Prize speech.

Barack Obama is the fourth American President who was given the Nobel Peace Prize; of course the Committee had some reasons for that. First of all, after George Bush’s governing Obama became a fresh air, he changed a little the foreign policy of the USA, now everything is not so categorical, the European Committee appraised those changes and probably because of that they gave such a noble prize to Barack Obama, who is innovator in many ways, American people love his closeness to ordinary people, his non-aggressive politics and the democracy in each his step. Yes, Obama said in his speech that some kinds of wars are necessary in our society, because it is the only way to fight the cruelty and evil. The President believes that only such big countries as the USA, Russia, China, etc can help the ones which need some military help that is their duty to control and sometimes interfere in the domestic affairs of other countries. He is a noble and intelligent man, who absolutely deserves the Nobel Prize as a person, who is not afraid to speak about the issues and find possible solutions.
